The brand
Keep the nerve. Lose the noise.
- Packaging you can spot at thumbnail size: black bottles, one colored band.
- A founder’s directness, and an audience that likes it.
- Independence, stated plainly, and the nerve to be unfashionable.
Let the label do the bragging. Hand the decision back to the customer.
The voice
The blunt ally who respects an adult’s judgment.

Proposed tests
What I’d measure.
| Hypothesis | Variable | Audience or context | Metric | Evaluation rule |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| A plain dose headline earns more product-page visits than a hype headline. | Headline only: 1000MG. PRINTED ON THE FRONT. against a category-style benefit line. | Cold paid-social audience, same picture, placement and offer. | Click-through to the official product page; landing-page bounce. | Call it only at the pre-set sample size and significance; otherwise, no winner. |
| A complementary field stops more thumbs than a monochromatic one without costing comprehension. | Scheme only (the controlled comparison): complementary against monochromatic. | Cold audience, one product at a time. | Thumb-stop rate (3-second views over impressions) and a one-question recall survey. | Adopt only if stop rate rises and recall doesn’t fall. |
| Pointing to the label builds more trust than urgency. | CTA only: Read the label against a limited-time style CTA. | Email subscribers, split at random. | Click-to-open, unsubscribes, complaints. | Keep the label CTA unless it loses on clicks by a pre-set margin with no gain in unsubscribes. |
| A patient cut holds viewers to the product better than a fast cut. | Edit pacing only, same narration. | Paid video audience. | Completion rate and the share reaching the product frame. | No change without a pre-set lift; narration pace is never sped up to fit. |
None of this has run. The Earmuffs setting is a visitor’s preference, not a randomized test. It is never used to compare performance.

The audit: 19 products, 126 listings
Storefront listing (/collections/all, pages 1 to 3) and its product JSON, read in a browser on 27 September 2026; navigation (Shop All, Stacks, Subscriptions, Blogs, About) followed; each family's packshot sampled in the browser with a canvas at 800 px wide. The label band is found as the first horizontal run where more than half of the bottle's central columns are saturated; its flat pixels (neighbors within 12 levels) in the dominant 15-degree hue bin give a median and a 10th to 90th percentile range by brightness. Values are observed digital approximations of a product photograph, not official brand standards.
Checked 2026-09-27 at blackforestsupplements.com/collections/all, pages 1 to 3, with Shop All, Stacks, Subscriptions, Blogs and About followed. The 126 listings: 56 duplicate listings, 24 multi-bottle or supply offers, 19 bundle or stacks, 19 individual products, 3 sample packs, 2 downloads, 2 services, 1 earlier listing.
Not audited. The store reports 145 products in its all collection; 126 are published to the storefront and were audited. The other 19 could not be accessed and are not audited. 19 products counted in the all collection but not published to the storefront; Product pages behind influencer and email-offer collections were not opened one by one; Label back panels (supplement facts) were not transcribed; Mango creatine packaging (sold out, not pictured on its own).
Sold out. Brain Complex (4-IN-1 Natural Nootropic), NMNH 250MG, enhanced with BioPerine, Nicotinamide Riboside (NR) 1550MG with Quercetin & Resveratrol; Serious Creatine in Mango.
| Product | Family | Size | Available | Label color, observed | Uncertainties |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ethiopian Black Seed Oil 1000MG Softgels | Everyday support | 60 softgels (product page text) | Yes | #CDCDCD | No chromatic label band: the identifying band is a neutral. |

| NMN 1000MG, enhanced with BioPerine | Longevity (NAD+) | 60 capsules (label) | Yes | #0097CE | The lead image carries a retailer UNISEX badge beside the bottle; it is an overlay, not packaging. | Turkesterone & Tongkat Ali 1000MG (Max Purity) | Men's vitality | not verified | Yes | #C70B0A | The red band carries the words 2 MONTH SUPPLY on the pictured label; whether this is the standing label or a supply edition was not verified. |

| GLP-1 5-IN-1 Support 3260 MG | Metabolic | not verified | Yes | #ED077C | – |
| 5x Berberine (Dihydroberberine) with Ceylon Cinnamon | Metabolic | not verified | Yes | #CD0162 | Listing handle says 500mg; the pictured label reads 450MG. |
| Magnesium Sleep Aid 1695 MG, melatonin-free | Evening rituals | 90 capsules (label) | Yes | #7E07EC | – |
| Brain Complex (4-IN-1 Natural Nootropic) | Cognitive | 30 servings (product page text) | Sold out | #CE430A | The label band is orange; the amber glass around it (about #6D2910) is not a label color. The supplied campaign packshots
- High Flavanol Cocoa. Packaging matches: the supplied packshot is still the lead image. The concept bronze #C09B70 is warmer and roughly twice the chroma of the greige label band #BFAFA2. It is a campaign accent, not a label color.
- Longevity Coffee. Packaging matches. The concept copper #D89950 is lighter and more saturated than the label copper #B78E6A; same hue family.
- NMN 1000MG. Packaging matches, but the concept cyan #48C4DF sits closer to the retailer UNISEX badge (about #4EC5DF) than to the label band (about #01ADE5 to #0192CB). Flagged; the proposal below re-anchors on the band.
- Magnesium Sleep Aid. Packaging matches. The concept lavender #B399E7 is a light tint of the label violet #7D07EA; it reads on ink, the label violet does not carry small type on ink.
- Cistanche + Tongkat Ali. Packaging matches. The concept yellow #E3B935 is within a few degrees of the label yellow #E3B401 and less saturated.
Color: the model and every token
Wheel. Painter's RYB wheel, 12 hues, as drawn in the Unity and Variety handout (Color/Tone Continuum, p. 15). RYB angle to screen HSL hue, piecewise linear: red 0 = 0, orange 60 = 30, yellow 120 = 55, green 180 = 120, blue 240 = 215, violet 300 = 280. Saturation and lightness follow the anchor unless a role sets them.
Order. The handout's continuum: Monochromatic, Analogous, Split Complementary, Primary Triad, Tetrad, Complementary, Clash. Position is a design intention on the Unity to Variety axis, not a measured effect.
Aggression also comes from chroma, value contrast, coverage, type scale, crop, imagery and motion. More colors do not by themselves mean more intensity. Coverage percentages are execution guidelines for these campaigns, not rules from the handout.
- Monochromatic (Credible). One hue in several values, with tinted neutrals.
- Analogous (Personable). The anchor and its neighbors 30 degrees either side; 60 degrees for the wider five-color set.
- Split complementary (Compassionate). The anchor and the two neighbors of its opposite (150 and 210 degrees).
- Triad (Empowering). Three hues 120 degrees apart. The handout's Primary Triad is the case where the anchor is a primary.
- Tetrad ((between Empowering and Provocative)). Two complementary pairs: the anchor and its opposite, plus the next pair round (30 and 210 degrees). The handout: use the main pair with only one other set of complements.
- Complementary (Provocative). The anchor and its opposite (180 degrees).
- Clash (Provocative, toward Agitating). Adapted from the handout's blue example: the anchor against a near-complement one step off the opposite (150 degrees, the handout's red-orange against blue), at full chroma and close value; or the neighboring complementary pair (30 and 210 degrees).
Observed colors are digital approximations sampled from product photographs, not official standards. Campaign anchors are proposals.

- High Flavanol Cocoa. Kept. Warmer and about twice the chroma of the greige label band #BFAFA2; it comes from the cocoa itself, so it is a campaign color, never a label color.
- Longevity Coffee. Kept. Same hue family as the label copper #B78E6A, lighter so it carries type on ink.
- NMN 1000MG. Changed. The concept cyan matched the retailer UNISEX badge, not the label. Re-anchored on the label band (about #01ADE5 to #0192CB).
- Magnesium Sleep Aid. Kept for type and rules on ink: a light tint of the label violet #7D07EA, which cannot carry small type on ink. Fields use the label violet itself.
- Cistanche + Tongkat Ali. Kept. Within a few degrees of the label yellow #E3B401, slightly less saturated.
Voice: the matrix and the audit
What we read. The official homepage, About page, product pages (NMN, Magnesium Sleep Aid, Supercharged Cocoa) and the blog, 27 September 2026. The blog addresses “this list” and refers to letters sent to subscribers, so it stands in for the email voice; no inbox email was read, and the emails in this study are spec emails. Social: the YouTube channel profile only (its description, 2.72K subscribers and 615 videos as shown); the video list did not load, TikTok refused automated reading, and Instagram, X and Facebook need a login, so they were not audited.
What we saw. A founder’s directness and an audience that likes it; independence stated plainly; a recent blog voice that argues from cited numbers. Alongside it, habits the work drops: stacked superlatives and “world’s first” claims, borrowed drug names as shorthand, urgency devices, benefit claims ahead of label facts, and identity politics the product doesn’t need.
| Principle | Rule | Do | Don’t | By channel | Before and after |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| SAY IT STRAIGHT. | Concrete nouns. Active verbs. Short beats. No corporate fog. | Name the thing: the jar, the dose, the hour. | Stack adjectives or promise a transformation. | Social: four words if four will do. Email: one idea per paragraph. Web: facts in the order you’d check them. | Before: Unlock your ultimate morning potential with our premium formula. After: One scoop. 0 sugar. 27 calories. Your call. |
| EARN THE CONFRONTATION. | Name a recognizable irritation and land a clear point. | Pick a fight with noise, hype and manipulative selling. | Pick a fight with the customer, or with anyone’s politics. | Social: the irritation is the hook. Email: once, early. Web: in the hero only. | Before: Don’t let THEM tell you what to take. After: The feed has opinions. You have coffee. |
| KEEP THE DRY HUMOR. | One strong joke beats a page of chest-thumping. | Undercut the category’s theatrics. | Explain the joke, or stack three of them. | Social: the joke is the headline. Email: the subject line at most. Film: let the pause land it. | Before: The ultimate alpha stack for real men! After: Keep the car. Spare us the sales pitch. |
| LEAVE THE DECISION WITH THE CUSTOMER. | Read the label. Make your call. | Point to the label and the product page. | Count down timers or manufacture scarcity. | Every CTA says what happens next: read the label, check the details, see the product page. | Before: Only 3 left! Order now before it’s gone. After: Read it. Decide. |
| PROVE THE PRODUCT FACTS. | Separate verified composition from unsupported outcomes. | Quote the label: dose, count, ingredients. | Promise sleep, youth, hormones or performance. | Social: one number. Email: the fact block. Web: the label, pictured, with its source and date. | Before: Turn back the clock on aging. After: 1000MG. PRINTED ON THE FRONT. |
| USE PROFANITY AS PUNCTUATION, NOT PERSONALITY. | Earmuffs keeps the same backbone. | One word, where it lands hardest. | Swear to sound tough. The night product never swears. | Social: at most one ad per product. Email: at most one subject line. Web: the hero line only. Film: separate clean and uncensored recordings. | Before: Crush it, bro. This stuff is insane. After: Another year. Same d*mn standards. |
| BUILD A CADENCE. | Tension. Turn. Product. Decision. Close. Silence can carry the punch. | Short line, full stop, room to breathe. | Fill the silence with benefits. | Film: hold the pause before the product. Social: headline, then the fact. Email: friction, reframe, fact, next step. | Before: Energy! Focus! Strength! Stamina! Try it today! After: Clock out. Mean it. |

Copy structure: one human friction, one blunt reframe, one verified product fact, one useful next step. Headlines own the frame; body copy adds information; CTAs say what happens next.

Independent concept by Jason Walker, 2026, not commissioned or endorsed by Black Forest. No campaign ran; no results are claimed. Strategy, creative direction, copy, design and production: Jason Walker.
Earmuffs. On by default and on every fresh visit. The masked words keep their letters, case and rhythm (d*mn, s#it, bulls#it); nothing else changes. Off shows the original words; the choice lasts for this visit only and is never carried by a link. Words set into pictures were retypeset from the editable templates; the photography is untouched.
The three commercials. Grandpa Has Questions, One Trip and The Label Takes the Stand are the approved cuts delivered 28 September 2026 (cut 08, cut 05 and cut 03), one recording each, composed for 16:9, with posters, captions and transcripts made for this page. They carry no swear word, so the Earmuffs setting leaves them as they are. They replace the earlier coffee and NMN spots on those two product pages; the cocoa, magnesium and tongkat pages keep their two-take spots.
The product spots. Five spots, each performed twice from Jason’s own recordings: the clean take for Earmuffs on, the uncensored take for Earmuffs off. No narrator was generated and nothing is bleeped. Each take is composed separately for 16:9 and 9:16 and carries its own captions and transcript. Nothing plays until a visitor presses play, and changing the setting stops the film. The uncensored NMN take says “Same standards.” and its captions keep that wording. The cinematic openings and the score were generated for this campaign; the product scenes are the supplied campaign images. The six-second silent hooks from the earlier round are not these commercials.
Photography. The product scenes are supplied campaign images made from the official packshots; the labels are shown as sold. Product facts come from the front labels and titles on the official product pages, checked 27 September 2026.
Emails. Spec emails, table-built with inline styles, image sizes, alt text and font fallbacks, each with a plain-text version and a sending template. They were checked in Chromium only; no email client was tested.
